From Uncertainty to Impact | New York State Regional School Food Infrastructure Grant Funds the Purchase of East End Food Hub, Strengthening the Entire Local Food Ecosystem

We’re thrilled to announce that East End Food has been awarded a $5 million grant through the USDA School Food Infrastructure initiative—an incredible milestone that will allow us to purchase the building and surrounding property for our future Food Hub. This moment is years in the making. Thanks to the tireless advocacy of our supporters and the strength of our vision, we now have the opportunity to secure a permanent home for local food on the East End. The Food Hub will be a community anchor: A centralized facility for processing, storing, and distributing local food A space to support farmers, fishers, and food producers with infrastructure they need to grow A hub for nutrition education, farm-to-school programs, and public access to fresh, local ingredients This Grant Is Just the Beginning While the USDA grant makes it possible to purchase the property, there’s still a long road ahead. We must now raise the additional funds needed for construction, equipment, and programming that will bring this vision to life.
